콜라쥬 기법으로 이 책의 그림을 그린 에릭 칼은 그 만의 독특한 색감으로 동물들을 그려놓았다. 아무 배경도 없지만, 갈색 곰의 몸이 크게 그려져 있고, '갈색(brown)'도 한 가지 색상이 아니라 조금씩 미묘하게 다른 색들을 배치해놓아 색감각을 풍부하게 하는데 도움이 될 수 있을 듯 하다.
